(ST. LOUIS – December 28, 2009) Brown Mackie College – St. Louis, one of the newest higher education institutions in the region, has announced that Terri Leap will serve as president, and Paul Smith has been named dean of academic affairs. Both bring higher education leadership experience and ties to the St. Louis region.
Brown Mackie College – St. Louis, located at #2 Soccer Park Road in Fenton, Mo., will hold its first day of classes on February 1, 2010.
Terri Leap has more than 15 years experience in higher education leadership. Prior to her appointment as president of Brown Mackie College – St. Louis, she served as dean of academic affairs at Brown Mackie College – Indianapolis. She also has served as campus director for the Virginia School of Massage in Charlottesville, Va.; director of education at Sanford-Brown College in Hazelwood, Mo., and president of Allied College in Fenton, Mo. Leap earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Eastern Illinois University and a doctor of chiropractic degree from Logan College of Chiropractic.
Paul Smith brings 24 years of experience in career education to his role as dean of academic affairs for Brown Mackie College – St. Louis. Prior to joining the college, he served as associate dean and helped launch a new ITT Technical Institute campus in Wichita, Kan. Smith also has worked at ITT Technical Institute campuses in Omaha, Neb., and St. Louis, and he served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He earned associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in electronics engineering technology from ITT Technical Institute in St. Louis and a master’s degree in education from Peru State College in Omaha.
Brown Mackie College – St. Louis initially will offer bachelor’s degree programs in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Health Care Management, and Legal Studies; and associate’s degree programs in Accounting Technology, Architectural Design & Drafting Technology, Business Management, Criminal Justice, Health Care Administration, Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Office Management, Paralegal, Pharmacy Technology, and Surgical Technology. The school will also offer diploma programs in Accounting, Business, Criminal Justice, Medical Assistant, and Paralegal Assistant.
